About Second Chance Owl
Our Mission
At Second Chance Owl, we strive to provide the best possible educational resources at reasonable prices to our customers by collecting a variety of resources that foster learning, growth, and development for children.
Our History
Founded in 2021 In Ontario, Second Chance Owl has been dedicated to helping educators and parents find resources for their needs at reasonable prices and into the hands of young learners.
In 2024, Second Chance Owl reopened in Alberta excited to bring their service to a new area.
We are community driven, partnering with several local educational based programs. We have a proven track record of success and are committed to continuing to provide high-quality service for years to come.
The Team
Hi! I'm Christena, the one behind Second Chance Owl. I started this business because I have had an interest in entreprenurialship since I was a child. I always found work that was community connected. I am very new to the small business world but I am learning every day.
I am a wife and homeschooling Mom to two. I love being crafty, coffee, plants and being out in nature. I have a background in dance, preforming and early education.

Our headquarters is currently rural, Just outside of Airdrie, which means it is easier for me to deliver to you. You are of course, more than welcome to pick up if thats best for you. Deliveries are free with orders over $25.00, otherwise, they are $5.00 each.

Educators - I am happy to deliver (or pick up consignment) right from your work location (a school, daycare, community space, etc.)

Basically, if you can find it in a learning space - we will take it! It's probably easier to list the items we won't take:
- items with TV or movie characters (Disney, Pokemon, etc)
- plastic toys (please ask if you have some, it depends on the item)
- large furniture or carpets
- dictionaries, encyclopedias, magazines
- any items outdated, missing pi
Basically, if you can find it in a learning space - we will take it! It's probably easier to list the items we won't take:

- library discarded books
- teaching resources/curriculum older than the year 2018 (this also depends, just ask!)
- items downloaded/printed from Teachers Pay Teachers (as per their policy)
Second Chance Owl relies heavily on consignment. One of our main goals is to keep educational resources circulating and out of the landfill.

So how does consignment work?
We will pick up your items and do a thorough check to ensure it is all in good condition. Once you've got the thumbs up from us, we will track your items and get them posted to the shop. We do all of the work for you!
If your items sell, you earn 50% of the sale. This is payable to you at the end of each month via etransfer or store credit, your choice.
We will keep your items in our shop for a 3 month term. Any items that didn't sell will be returned to you or donated to a local learning space, your choice.
